Terrell Manning is causing quite a stir in the depth charts this Spring. This Redshirt Freshemen is battling with Sophomore Dwayne Maddox for one of the Outside Linebacker positions. Manning was the headliner of stout crew of 4 linebackers in the '08 class (Dwayne Maddox, Sterling Lucas and William Beasley, who were all 3 Star Recruits). He was practically forced to Redshirt last season after he completely tore his ACL and MCL in his team's final game of his Senior season. Terrell stands 6'3 and came to NC State weighing 205. During his rehab last season, he added the bulk (15 pounds) that many believed he would.
Mr. Manning got the attention of all the recruiting analysts when he logged 130 tackles, 3 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries his Junior season. He didn't disappoint them when his Senior season rolled around either when he tallied up a gynormous stat of 213 tackles. He was clocked running a 4.55 40 in high school, and Manning would tell you that he is faster than his 40 time. Terrell is extremely versatile and can play all 3 linebacker positions. He is freaky athletic and he has great football instincts. This 4 Star recruit was ranked as the #5 WLB in his class and Rivals ranked him the 15th best Outside Linebacker. This man-child received offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, UNC, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and South Carolina.
Coach O'Brien and his staff continue to show they take recruiting their home state very seriously. Two out of the past three seasons they have landed the #1 player int the good ol' state of North Carolina in Manning (08) and Robert Crisp (10). Wherever #35 lands next season on the Depth Chart, you can go ahead and prepare your ears for hearing his name called out repeatedly on Saturday's.

5 Responses to "Taking Off The Redshirt: Terrell Manning"Man, I have really been looking forward to seeing Manning and Irving in the same line-backing core! I hope Irving sticks around after this year because Manning is going to mature in a similar manor as Irving. The two of them could be devastating to opposing Offenses. Not to mention all of the other studs at linebacker. We are going to be very talented behind the D-line for quite some time. Fall can't be here too sson for me! Go Pack!
Also, here are some of the next few of the "Taking Off The Redshirt:" articles that I would love to see; William Beasley, Mario Carter and Colby Jackson.
I am truly excited about these three guys, in particular, because they can all have an immediate impact on our football team in a very positive fashion.
Mr. Beasley had a fantastic tackle in the Red/White Game, taking down Tony Baker for the solo tackle for loss. He is a heavy hitter with great instincts.
'New Mario' Carter had some incredible catches in the Spring Game. Mario seemed to catch everything that came his way. He will be the perfect compliment to George Bryan, until he takes a lead roll, of course.
Colby Jackson may be the first great Full-back that has run with the Pack in a long, long time. He was a force on the scout team last year, and will be a force when he sees the field this year. He can pass and run block, catch flying pigskins, and put his grill in between the tackles and get hard yards.
I look forward to learning more about these guys, among others, and to seeing them all step on the newly renovated turf at Carter Finley Stadium, for their first times next year.
Go State!
You know what pppack3...
We'll put them out in that exact order for ya. Thanks
I am so proud of my big brother/ friend Terrell. I hope he will go very far in life even if its not with football. Terrell #35's Biggest Fan!!!
