NC State vs. Wake Forest Game Notes


Wilson's Streak Ends - After an NCAA record 379 straight pass attempts without an interception, Russell Wilson was picked off by Josh Bush in the second quarter on his 16th attempt of the game. Wilson hadn't thrown an interception in 14 games, his first since the second half of the Clemson game on September 12, 2008. Wilson threw his second of the game (third in his career) with 2:02 left in the Wake game with the Pack at the Wake 29-yard line.

Sack Attack - NC State's defense sacked Riley Skinner six times, the most the senior signal caller has ever been sacked. The six sacks were the most for a Woflpack defense since the Virginia game in 2007 and the most since having seven against Maryland in 2005.

Willie Young's Big Day - Willie Young had a big day for the defense, notching a career-high tying three sacks, the most since the Virginia game in 2007. He also caused a fumble on his first sack that setup the Pack's first touchdown.

Burgess = Turnovers - Leroy Burgess recovered a fumble to setup the Wolfpack's first touchdown, his third recovery of the season after two against Murray St. He also had his first career interception, including a rumbling 40 yard return late in the second quarter.

Turnovers Forced - NC State had forced just four turnovers in the first four games coming in today, but forced three in the game - two interceptions and a fumble.

Clem Johnson Interception - Clem Johnson had his first interception of the year in the first half. it was his third career interception.

George Bryan - Tied his career-high with six catches, a high he set last week when he hauled in 6-89-2 against Pitt. He had 79 yards and a touchdown against Wake.

Alan-Michael Cash Sets Two Career Highs - Alan-Michael Cash set a pair of career highs against Wake - tackles (9) and sacks (2).

Owen Spencer Ties Career-High - Owen Spencer Owen Spencer caught four passes for a career high tying 102 yards. He also had 102 yards receiving against Boston College last season. The 102 yards yards against Wake were the seventh-most receiving yards for a Wolfpack player against the Deacons since 1970.

Wilson Has 275 Yards Passing, Career High In Attempts - Russell Wilson's 275 yards passing were the sixth-most ever against Wake Forest for NC State QBs dating back to 1970. His 43 attempts were a career-high.

Struggles At Wake - NC State has won 15 of the last 22 against Wake Forest, but has lost six of the last seven played in Winston-Salem.

Jarvis Williams Sets Career High In Catches - Jarvis Williams set a new career-high with five catches against Wake.
