Going Back To His Roots

From talking with many head coaches, and listening to Coach Lowe talk about it many times, apparently there is nothing like going back and coaching at your alma mater. Former Pack Linebacker Oliver Hoyte, and Dallas Cowboy Fullback, has gone back to his hometown to coach the Linebackers at Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Florida. Even though its been 8 years since the Chamberlain fans witnessed Oliver Hoyte knockin heads on Friday nights, I am going to be willing to bet that he left a permanent impression. In Hoyte's Senior season he racked up 153 tackles (98 solo) and 5 sacks. Oliver earned 1st Team All-State honors as a Junior and a Senior and also led his Chamberlain squad to a 5-A State Championship. We wish Oliver the best of luck and we are sure that Chamberlain should have a pretty mean Linebacker corps next season.

I wish Olly-pop all the best.
Was there a physical reason why Oliver left the NFL? I know he converted to a Full-Back for the Cowboys.
BTW, Hoyte's head is shaped just like a missle! I always thought, "I would really hate to get hit with the top of that noodle of his." Good luck at Chamberlain Olly. And, Go Pack.

im my opinion you guys should have one main site called "wolfpacksports"(im sure you guys can think of something more creative) and from that site there are links to different sports (i.e hoops and pigskin). The main site should have other too like links for forums and other stuff ect.

    ^ PPack,
Sorry but I had to laugh at loud at that missile comment. And by the way, we love'd your rant last night after your wife went on vacation...priceless!

    Brant,
Thanks for the input, that actually is the next step in our growth. May be a little while however.

I appreciate the kind words fella(s). I'm trying to get the word out about both sites, and post as much as I can without losing my job. Posts begget posts, you know.
On the topic of the sites, I think readership would pick up on Pigskin if the sites were under "one roof," but I know the hits will pick up here, regardless, as football draws closer and more people find out that you are here. Hoops is really starting to blow up!
Forums are a great idea, but if you think moderation of these two sites is tough now, put forums on them and be prepared to sit at your computer all day every day. People want these things, but they have no idea how hard it is to keep up a website like this one.
I love NC State. I always have, and I always will. There are frustrations along the way, but the University is in my heart. I have been going to Carter Finley to watch the Pack since I was a young buck (1970's), and I recall being able to watch the game from anywhere but the press box. Choose your seat. Anywhere's fine. Stretch your legs and kick back, because it was likely that there was noone sitting in front of you or behind you. The point of all of this is that the program has grown by leaps and bounds. It started with Sheridan. O'Cain did some good things while on the side lines, just not enough to quinch the thirst left behind by Sheridan. Amato was awesome for this school. He brought a winning attitude, and a swagger to Raleigh. People like to hate on him, but the reality is that he brought credibility to the Program, along with facilities, NFL draft picks, and dreams of Championships. He bled NC State red, and I think it's a shame that we had to make a change, but his tenure had run its course. And it's funny, he was criticized heavily for those lofty dreams of success, yet I read a piece on Mike Archer in the Wolfpacker that had a quote from Mike that read almost exactly like an Amato quote. Something like, "Why not make a Championship a goal, we will never reach that point if you don't aspire to get there." Amazing.
I think Tom O'Brien and Co. (never forget 'Co.') are going to pick up the ball that Amato left here, and run with it. I think all Pack fans should understand that Lee Fowler and Chuck Amato were both instramental in Tom O'Brien leading the Pack today, directly or indirectly, love 'em or hate 'em.
Off Topic: When the World League came through and we had the Raleigh Skyhawks playing here, I actually manned an NBC camera while the real cameraman went to get a hot dog and use the bathroom. Good times.

    PPack,
About the two sites under one roof, that will come with time. Don't worry we have much bigger plans that you will see being unveiled sometime around basketball season this year, we hope.

And I agree about Amato, I know some of his family up in PA and they're real good people and what you said about him is right. Sad that he couldnt build us into a powerhouse but he laid a little foundation and we have the right man for the job right now in TOB
