Wilson Meets the Press (Part 1): 8/25/09

Top Quotes From the Interview:

"I want to be the best quarterback I can, I want to be the best quarterback in the ACC, and I want to be the best quarterback in the nation, every time I step on the field."

"I think it's exciting playing South Carolina (for the first game of the season), they're a good team with a good coach...They want to win, we want to win, it's going to be on national TV. That's the exciting part. It's not about last year, to be honest with you. It's about this year, about starting a new season, about starting all over and progressing..."

"I think everyone has grown. From the offensive line, to the wide recievers, to the defensive guys. I think everyone is understand what Coach O'Brien wants....and that helps us take it to another level."

Wow! I've noticed the progression of Wilson's "public speaking" ability this year. I met him at the 'Meet the Pack Day' last year. He is a great guy and his confidence radiates to the people around him. If you have the time, search a little for some interviews with Russell from last year, and you will see just how much he has matured, and just how much he has been taught about what to say and how to say it. At the same time, it takes someone special to learn those things, and to still be able to handle the media with grace. You go Russell.
    And, Go Pack!

It seems hard to come across an interview with a State player where he does not mention how much he loves and appreciates the fans. Its obvious that TOB has made his program aware of what and who they are playing for. Hearing players say that they chose to come here because of the fans and that they are aware of the loyalty that we show them, only makes us even louder and more passionate than before.

Wow, all those media guys asked about the incident at the SC game last year for 2 min. straight. You would think they would move on after his first response. Oh well, I guess they try to get any sort of drama they can for a story.

As a side note, I just saw an article that Justin Burke will be the starting QB at Lousville. Congratulations are in order. I hope he does well.

    Wow are you serious Dof87???

Is Louisville THAT bad that Burke won the job or has Burke finally become the comanding QB he was slated to be out of HS. If my old memory serves me right he was Mr Kentucky coming out of HS, known for his strong arm and passer rating.... Oh what could have been if he had developed here... but I wish him all the best!!!! (Hes still no Russell Wilson!!!)

I read an interview with Burke recently where he admitted that his heart wasn't in it here. I don't know if the coaching change and/or constantly changing OC's and playbooks had anything to do with it, but my guess would be, yes.
Look, Daniel Evans threw the football at Broughton like he was Philip Rivers! Burke was "Mr. Kentucky." I think that they were confused most of the time. You had to BE Philip Rivers to learn a new playbook every year!
Best of luck to Justin. I hope your heart is in it, and that the Offense suits you. If those two things are happening, I think you can succeed at Louisville. Good luck!

I didn't know we were "laying" South Carolina. I mean, I figured after we had our way with them on the football field, our players would probably be "laying" some of their cheerleaders and stuff, but I wouldn't expect such commentary on WPP, though.

Just giving you guys a hard time. ;)

    Keep up the good work!

TBKR...thanks for the heads up. It's amazing what missing one letter of a word can do to the meaning of a sentence.

I didn't mean to bust your chops. I just noticed that, and thought the changed meaning was pretty funny.

I let most of the obvious typos go, but this one was too good. :)
