Kid was in the right places at the right times, for sure. The last two defensive plays were awesome! Check Mate made two BIG hits, one of which saved a game-tying touchdown and left his victim laying out of the back of the end zone with the ball between his legs, face down, helmet-less, with his two feet just inside of pay dirt. That pass hit the Pitt receiver in the hands, he got both hands on the ball and started to tuck it away but Check Mate came out of nowhere (like a ball-seeking missile), timing his hit perfectly. It reminded me of Clem Johnson, on several occasions, from last year.
That was such a poised effort from a Freshman. Great job, Check Mate!
