DJ Green: Captain of a Wrecking Crew

NC State commit D.J. Green is one of the captains of the Westside Seminoles. This Safety leads the charge for a defense that packs a mean punch. In two games this season they have yet to allow the opposition to put a single point on the scoreboard. Westside's offense is far from anemic, putting up a total of 88 points combined in the two games. In the season opener Westside defeated Central 34-0 and last week they demolished Forest Park 54-0. The defense has played so well that the games haven't been to eventful for Green at the Safety position.

"The first game I had 6 tackles and they took us out at halftime," Green said. "The second game was so boring, I had 1 tackle at the half."

Westside is looking for this weeks game to be a bit more challenging. Not only will it be their first game on the road, but it is also against Upson-Lee, who has NC State commit Logan Winkles at the Fullback slot.

"We should have a challenge this week when we play upson-lee out of Thomaston, GA," Green said. "Logan Winkles plays for them so I cant wait to meet him."

Green is embracing his role as a captain and looks to continue to lead by example this weekend against Upson-Lee.

"I like being captain, but its important to stay focused because everyone is always watching." Green said.

Everyone in Georgia will be watching this Friday night as two tough teams battle in Thomaston, GA. Green and Winkles will butt heads this weekend, but next year they will suit up in the Red and White together.

The position of safety or even field LB (which is the extra strong safety Archer put in) is going to be loaded in a year or two.

    1. Wolff
    2. Byers
    3. Coleman
    4. Bishop
    5. Rice
    6. Haynes
    7. Singer
    8. Green
***possible return of Javon Walker for one or two years

***still vying for a couple nationally ranked safetys including David Amerson.

That is a ton of depth that can be spread out to help play field safety, strong safety, field LB and extra DB dime packages.

Coach Reed better get his own personnel assistant..
