Labor Day Press Conference: Alan-Michael Cash

Key Quotes:

"I thought the defense played real good. We were physical. We did miss a lot of tackles though..which probably was the only bad thing we did."

"(The loss) has been a little tough, but we still have 11 games left. I just have to move on from it and focus on who we have to play next, and that is Murray State."

"I'd say yes (it is encouraging to play this well without Nate Irving), because it just goes to show that one person doesn't make this team. It's a team. Yes, without him playing it's a big loss for us, but we have to move on and other people have to step up."

"It's not that frustrating because if they don't score the 7 they don't win, it would have been 3-0. The offense wasn't clicking like they usually were. That happens to the best of teams. I think they still played good. You can't blame it on the offense."

I am passionate about Wolfpack football. So, it's disappointing for me to hear complacency from our men after such a poor performance on the home field. Complacency is what I've heard from everyone's post game remarks so far - they're basically trying to polish a turd of a performance. The 7-3 final score does not really reflect how badly we were outplayed. Physically it was not a close game. Besides, it's still a loss - on our home field.
It would make my year if our men had the passion of T. Tebow after Florida's loss to Ole Miss, when he vowed that you would never see anyone play harder. The tackling was downright awful Thursday night. I hope Coach is having serious discussions with the defensive coaches about tackling.
Russel did a good job not turning the ball over, penalties were minimal, and the kicking game (except the early block), was decent. These three things have haunted us in recent years. Now that we have a handle on these key items we should be winning ball games -- passionately!
