Wilson Named NFC Defensive Player of The Week

Former NC State safety Adrian Wilson was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance this past Sunday against the Giants. Wilson put up a stat line that exemplified why he was a All-Pro safety last last season (Wilson was also All-Pro in '06). He had 5 tackles (2 for loss), 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery and 2 passes defended. Both of the turnovers that Wilson was responsible for, were game changing plays. Wilson's interception, which was his first of the season, set up the Cardinals game winning touchdown. His fumble recovery on the Cardinals own 44-yard line stopped the Giants final attempt to tie the game in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Wilson is one sack and one interception away from becoming the 9th player in the history of the NFL to have 20 sacks and 20 interceptions in a career.

Adrian Wilson was drafted in the third round of the 2001 NFL draft out of NC State, after foregoing his senior season. He tallied 254 tackles in his three-year stint with the Wolfpack, which was the most by a defensive back since James Walker collected 289 (93-95). This Greensboro native has represented the Wolfpack and the state of North Carolina well in his NFL career.

Anon...Hunter was kicked off the team for breaking team rules. Out of respect to Hunter, I don't think I should disclose details. He made a poor decision and as a result, he is no longer on the team.

Understanding the situation, it could have an effect on him playing for NC State. But that completely depends on how the coaching staff chooses to handle the situation.

So wolfpack hoops/pigskin what your saying is that it is up to the coaching staff if he plays here and not the other way around? Basically because this incident happened he hasnt changed his mind but the staff "may" have. WPP whats the deal with Creecy and do you have any info on any other possible recruits we might be pushing hard for? Thanks as always and you guys are always my go to site! Go Pack!

Here is all I'm saying. I'm not sure how this situation has effected Hunter's commitment to NC State. If he is still solid on his commitment, I'm not sure how the staff will handle it.

Definitely, Congratulations to Adrian Wilson! He is one of the best players to ever don a Wolfpack uniform. Some of the hits he made in college made me jump out of my seat, and say, 'Damn, I'm glad I don't have a football in my hand, because Wilson might see me, and then I'll be like that guy!"

He is a professional. I heard his interview with Jim Rome yesterday. Fantastic interviewee, BTW. He talked about how Pat Tillman taught him how to practice, play and carry himself on and off of the field. He even told Rome that P Rivers was texting him during the interview, just to let him know that he was listening!

It's amazing, to me, to see how many guys are in the league that passed through Carter Finley Stadium. We have been very fortunate through the 90's and 2000's to have been able to watch these stars, before they were stars. Holt, Wilson, Rivers, Williams, Hudson, Lawson, Lochlear, Tyler, Robinson, Tulloch, B. Wiliams, Terrance Holt, Haushka (Sp?) just to name a few. I hope that all of our Alum, that are in the league, succeed.

    Go Pack!
