24. N.C. State
2008 record: 6-7
Key games: South Carolina (Sept. 3), @ FSU (Oct. 31), UNC (Nov. 28)
Bottom line: The Wolfpack was the only ACC team to win its final four conference games in '08. With the best quarterback in the conference (Russell Wilson, 17 TDs-1 INT), a favorable home schedule and a coach (Tom O'Brien) whose teams always improve as the season gets longer, State has a legitimate chance to win the Atlantic Division and play for its first ACC title in 30 years.
Other teams in the Top-25 of relevance:
8) Virginia Tech
16) Georgia Tech
21) East Carolina
22) Pittsburgh
Didn't make the cut:
27) Florida State
29) North Carolina

Just when I thought we were getting some "objective love" seeing we were ahead of UNC, I noticed ECU at 21. That must just have been to stir up the State fans.
Oops...the sentence should have said "teams of relevance." Teams on our schedule, in the ACC, or in the State. Thanks for the heads up.
In the "Other teams in the Top-25 on NC State's schedule" section at the bottom, you included East Carolina.
ECU is not on our schedule this year.
(And not to pick nits, but the last two top-25 opponents in the list are #27 and #29...... according to this poll anyway. Since when are #27 and #29 in the "top 25"? ;)
It should say:

Sorry for the confusion. I know we don't play GT and ECU but I thought people would be interested.
Believe he meant that ECU should learn from last season and build upon it, thus win some big OOC games and mop up the Con USA.
Read between the lines a bit and see where Giglio MIGHT suppose that Carolina gets a loss vs ECU and us. You add the 2 losses much of the media see on the schedule GT and VT and you get a predicted 4 loss team that would finish right outside the top 25. Logically sound IMO.
It is pointed out everywhere that for State to turn this program into the successful category that we would need to win early and often- especially getting the home vs Gamecocks. Yada, Yada, TOB always gets his team to play good down the stretch so they need to win early- I get it.
I would argue that any BCS team that wants a 10 + win season should win games early in the year to have the most probable chance of double digit W's in a season. You get 13 or 14 chances total so why start 2-4, I get it, but that sort of follows you year by year.
The ECU, NCSU choices were accompanied by a few more "dark horse" top 25 picks. Giglio probably giving some tick marks to the "others receiving votes" teams.
Is anyone else gettin' amped?
Tailgate Haiku
I can almost smell the chicken wings.
I can almost taste the beer.
I can almost relax! Football's almost here!
I don't know if this is the correct number of syllables, or if I even spelled Haiku correctly! It Doesn't matter, because I am jacked!
I was informed, today, that U of SC will be bringing about 200 RV's to the game! You thought we travelled well for a football team that hasn't won a championship in a while! You have to give it to SC Fan, she's a lot like we are. Their NASCAR following will be out in droves. I've already heard that extra tickets are nearly impossible to find. It is going to be an electric atmosphere, and I can't wait. Go Pack!
