NC State Commits: Week 12 Recap


Dontae Johnson (S) - The Pennington School's (6-3) 5-game winning streak was snapped in their final game of the regular season this past Friday night, in a 44-58 loss to King Low Heywood Thomas. Despite the loss, Dontae Johnson had a big-time performance, returning an interception 36 yards for a touchdown and reeling in 5 catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Tyler Brosius (QB) -
Tuscola (9-1-1) won the AAC championship this past Friday night, defeating Franklin 35-14. Brosius threw for 267 yards and rushed for a pair of touchdowns. The Mountaineers are the #4 seed in the 3A North Carolina state playoffs, and they will face-off against #13 seed Hickory (6-5) on Friday night at home at 7:30pm.

Brosius has thrown for 2,381 yards and 22 touchdowns this season.

Robert Crisp (OT) and Pete Singer (S)
- Athens Drive improved to 8-3 on Friday night, beating Holly Springs 39-37. Robert Crisp helped Athens Drive running back Kyree Green run for 130 yards and 3 touchdowns. Athens Drive will play in the state playoffs this Friday night as the #8 seed against the #9 seed Person (6-5). The game will be at Athens Drive and kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

Tony Creecy (WR)
- Southern Durham was awarded the #1 seed in the North Carolina 4-A state playoffs after going 10-1 in the regular season. They will play against the #16 seed East Wake (4-7).

DJ Green (S) - Westside (9-1) won their final game of the regular season on Friday night, defeating Hardaway 22-17. After losing their first game of the season last week against Thomas County Central, this win was huge heading into the state playoffs. Westside will play Mt. Zion in the first round of the playoffs this Friday night at home.

Thomas Teal (DT) - Marlboro County (11-0) mowed over Dreher in the first round of the state playoffs. The defense is led by defensive tackle Thomas Teal, and the Bulldogs posted their 6th shutout of the season, winning 41-0.

Torian Box (OT) - North Clayton (8-2) lost their final game of the regualr season this past Friday, falling to Dutchtown 14-15. The Eagles will get started in the 4A Georgia state playoffs this Friday night against Bainbridge.

Tobais Palmer (RB) - Tobais Palmer was unable to play in Saturday's match-up against Erie Community College. Without their leading rusher, GMC fell 10-13. The Bulldogs will play their final game of the regular season this Saturday against Lackawanna College at home.

Logan Winkles (FB)
- Upson-Lee (3-7) finished the season on a winning note this past Friday, defeating Jones County 28-14.

    I must have missed this awhile back, but does anyone know what is going on with Roy Mangram? I know he was with Tobias Palmer down at GMC. Is he still there? Is he still committed to the Pack?

    Roy Mangram will not be at NC State next year.
